Dubai Design Tour - cafés, bars, showrooms in 9 locations

A Dubai Design tour it quickly becomes apparent that Dubai has long been known not only for its spectacular architecture, but also as one of the most dynamic global centres of contemporary design. In this article, I've gathered six places - galleries, design brands and inspiring cafés - that together show how craft, technology, material use and storytelling come together here.

The aim is not just a narrative, but a urban impression from an interior design perspective: what makes these spaces work and what we can learn from them as interior designers or design enthusiasts.

Dubai Design Tour @ District: where global design meets

A Dubai Design District (d3) a creative quarter where international brands, emerging artists, galleries and hospitality spaces coexist in the same ecosystem. This concentration is particularly exciting because:

  • global impacts arrive in a single urban space,
  • experimental use of materials appears alongside classic luxury,
  • design is not only aesthetics, but also intercultural dialogue.

This approach is also key in interior design: a good space is not beautiful in itself, but carries a meaning.

If you're interested in how this translates into concrete projects, check out more of our interior design thinking on the website.

Craft and storytelling by Double J Collective & Sevil Dolmaci

A Double J Collective exhibition space in the Korea: Now and Here Dubai 2026 - Craft in Transformation project, which presented a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional crafts.

The work of Kuny and Ko Hye-Jeong was particularly strong:

  • the use of materials carries a memory,
  • the forms quiet, yet full of presence,
  • past and present not contrast, but continuity.

A few steps away from the Sevil Dolmaci I was welcomed by the Motte Carpet collection in the gallery, where I had the chance to meet in person Melodi with Bozkurt. He moved to Dubai from New York because he sees it as the real centre of the design discourse.

A The Holy Hz - The Geometry of Sound carpet is particularly memorable: the pattern visual representation of sound vibrations, as if the invisible frequencies into tactile geometry would be formed.

This idea is also important in interior design: space is not only a visible experience, but a tangible one.

Luxury materials and conceptual design: SICIS & Archiade Atelier

A SICIS world shows how mosaic tiling can become a architectural luxury material.

Strengths of the brand:

  • micro-level precision,
  • surfaces that react to light,
  • a jewel-like richness of detail.

Here is the material no background, but the protagonist of the space.

In contrast, the Archiade Atelier represents a more experimental, conceptual direction:

  • materials research,
  • limited design objects,
  • forms as thought imprints.

The two approaches together show why d3 is important: classic luxury and avant-garde research live in the same space.

A similar balance can be found in many interior design projects where function and emotion shape the space - as we wrote about in a previous blog article.

Material and light: Mirage & Occhio

A Mirage are the quiet quality of the enclosures:

  • textures with a natural effect,
  • precise surface finishing,
  • a background presence, yet with character.

This is the layer that not asking for attention, yet it sets the mood of the space.

This is the basis of the Occhio lighting system, where light is brought under total control:

  • adjustable brightness and colour temperature,
  • variable suspension depth,
  • gesture-driven technology.

Light is no longer a technical element here, but space-shaping tool and emotional component.

This duality - material and light - is the basis of any well-functioning interior.

Storytelling catering by Lulu and the Beanstalk

A Lulu and the Beanstalk café-bar is like a movie set meets a cosy living room.

Key elements of the space:

  • floor-to-ceiling bookshelves,
  • vintage seating furniture,
  • pastel and green shades,
  • Bohemian, dreamlike details.

During the day contemporary library atmosphere, obstacle intimate bar experience.

The name is a tribute to grandmother Lulu - a personal story that gives the design real depth.

A good catering space is always emotional connection builds, not just an aesthetic experience.

Iconic architecture: the legacy of ME Dubai & Zaha Hadid

A ME Dubai is located in the OCUS building, which Zaha Hadid the first woman architect to win the Pritzker Prize.

Which is really special:

  • liquid, floating forms,
  • a sculptural space,
  • external and internal one continuous thought.

Architecture and interior design here does not come apart, but an extension of each other.

This approach is one of the most important trends in contemporary interior design.

Safe haven: Orijins

From Orijins represents minimalism inspired by nature:

  • curved surfaces on walls and ceilings,
  • sand and stone pastel palette,
  • marble and natural plaster textures,
  • an organic coffee bean as the central artwork.

The thin LED lights shadow and light play which gives the space a quiet elegance.

This café is a perfect example of how to plan for a slowdown in the middle of a bustling city.

What did this Dubai Design tour teach you?

A Dubai Design District tour key lessons learned:

1. Design is now a global dialogue.
Cultures, materials and stories come together.

2. The use of materials has an emotional impact.
Not just sight, but perception.

3. Light is one of the most powerful tools of space.
It creates mood, rhythm and focus.

4. The story gives real depth.
Whether it's a carpet or a café.

Summary

Dubai's design scene is now not only spectacular, but is also conceptually crucial.

The 9 places shown together draw a picture:

  • craft and technology,
  • luxury and minimalism,
  • global impact and personal story.

It is this complexity that is shaping the future of contemporary interior design.
